About the blog:
Meditation Snippets is an experiment. The rules as set forth on the first day, August 18, 2009:
- I will write a post for every day
- Each post will have something to do with my experiences with meditation off the mat (in everyday life)
- I will try to get the writing posted every day
- I will not spend more than 30 minutes writing the post
The first two bullets are holding. The last two are holding in spirit. I take notes every day, but sometimes it takes the distance of another day or so to make a bit of sense of what I am writing. So the snippets are going up within two days. Maybe that is not a bad record.
I want to write a post for each day for six months; that puts the goal line sometime in February. Wish me luck. I have no idea if I will make it, or if I will run out of things to say.
Order of reading:
Blogs are strange things; readers often read from the end. This idea feels strange to me, probably because I wrote it from the beginning. My sense is that a groundwork for the subject may have been laid at the beginning, but that may not be true. Read in your own order.

About me:
If you don’t count the meditations that I made up from toddlerhood through 37 years old, I have studied and practiced meditation for the 13 years since. My formal practice is based in the Vipassana tradition, although other influences creep in. I am excited about trying this experiment.
